From The Principal's Office

Washington Street School Wildcats

Dear Washington Street School Families,

I hope this letter finds you and your families enjoying the first few weeks of the summer vacation!  As you may be enjoying the first few weeks of the vacation, our custodians have already been hard at work preparing our school for the start of the new school year.  I think your children will be excited to see some of the completed work!

At this time I would also like to formally welcome Mr. Dominic Gobbo to Washington Street School as our new Assistant Principal. The two of us are honored and excited to have a chance to work with your children next school year.

On Monday, August 13th, Mr. Gobbo and I will be hosting a “Greetings in the Gardens” event, as a brief meet and greet for you and your children.  Additional information about the event will be forthcoming.

Finally, Mr. Gobbo and I wanted to welcome Mrs. Perrotta and Mrs. Varuzzi, as our PTA Co-Presidents.  We thank them in advance for their commitment and dedication to our school. It is already greatly appreciated!

Wishing you and your families a lot of fun, sun, and relaxation this summer.

Sincerely, Mr. John Stella

A Farewell from Ms. Mazzone

To the Washington Street School Community,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the many gifts, thoughts of appreciation, and warm wishes for my retirement.  It has been my honor to serve as the principal of Washington Street School for the past 9 years.  I have met so many wonderful families in my 32 years in this District.  This is a wonderful community, and I was blessed to be a part of it.  As I have told so many over the past few weeks, I am ready to retire, but I don't want to leave!  How do you leave a place that has given you so many wonderful memories and provided you the opportunity to meet, and be a part of the lives, of so many wonderful children?  I am leaving, however, knowing that Washington Street School is in the hands of a wonderful man who loves this school "almost" as much as I do!! Mr. Stella, my friend, will be a great principal, and will continue the wonderful traditions that make this school the best (I know that I am biased) in the world!!  I wish him, and new Assistant Principal Dominic Gobbo, the best of luck.

Once again, thank you, and always remember, We Learn, We Care, We Are . . . Washington Street School!

Enjoy the summer!

Ms. Mazzone
